Andy Mac Sharry Vice President, Irish Naval Association:

"I served in the An Slua Muirí (Irish Naval Reserve at the time) Limerick Company No.05 from 1960 to 1970.

The Photo of repairs to a Whaler, these were used to instruct the Slua members on Sail handling and rowing, was taken in 1964, PO Mick Treacy was a member of the Irish Naval Service, (referred to as “A Regular”) based in Dublin to train the two Company’s of An Slua Muiri Coy. 01 & 02.

I was a Commissioned Office with Number 5 Coy An Slua Muirí Limerick. Engineering, having passed through the ranks, Ordinary Stoker, Able Stoker, Leading Hand Stoker, PO Stoker.

The Photo was taken as we both were repairing a damaged Whaler, when on annual Training in Fort Camden in July 1964."
